Honor the Brave Who Have Served and Sacrificed this Memorial Day

We all get excited for Memorial Day Weekend, the traditional beginning to summer (especially important in an area rich in attractions and seaside enjoyment). But we should also remember why most of us get to enjoy this extended weekend and the liberties that come with the pride and honor of calling ourselves “American”.  It is because of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our country, our freedoms, and all we tout as as our national ideals.

While you’re visiting Cape May this weekend remember those who have served and sacrificed – perhaps a parent, grandparent, friend, or a name on a stone.  Here is a list of Memorial Day events to attend for honoring these brave souls:

 

Sunday, May 29

 

7:30PM – Coastguard Sunset Parade, Coastguard Training Center, Bear Ave.

8PM – Atlantic Brass Band at Cape May Convention Hall (Free Admission)

Monday May 30

 

9AM – Wreath Laying Obervance, All Wars Monument on Columbia Ave. in Cape May

10AM – Memorial Day Parade, Pacific Ave. Memorial Field to American Legion in  Cape May Court House

11AM – Memorial Day Ceremony at Cape May Conventional Hall, hosted by the City of Cape May, American Legion Harry Snyder Post 193, and VFW Post 386

11:45AM – US Coastguard Rifle Salute and Flower Boat Launching, Gurney Street Beach in Cape May

2PM – Memorial Day Ceremony, Cape May County Veterans Cemetary, 129 Crest Haven Road, Cape May Court House 08210
