The Blessing of the Waters honors Cape May’s commercial fishermen and their vital role in the community’s economy and maritime heritage. Faith leaders, fishermen, and community members gather at the waterfront to offer prayers for protection, safe voyages, and a successful season at sea. This longstanding tradition recognizes the courage and dedication of those who make their living on the water while celebrating the rich maritime legacy of Cape May during its 175th anniversary and the 250th anniversary of the United States.
