Greetings from Sunny Cape May. That’s right…after last week’s storm the sun is shining brightly and we are expecting a gorgeous weekend…for winter that is. We hope everyone who resides here in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic fared well in the recent blizzard of 2016. Cape May was very fortunate to have been spared widespread Damage. Snow accumulations were minimal and wind damage could have been far worse. Flooding was a concern, but those businesses affected are working hard to ensure that they are prepared for the upcoming spring season. Let’s hope any further snow is of the tranquil variety that beautifully dusts the trees, only to melt by mid afternoon.
Speaking of the winter, the last weekend of January is upon us! It seems like just yesterday we were decking the halls for the holidays, but now it’s already time to look ahead to spring. Just think…it’s less than 2 months away…not that we are complaining. In the meantime, the biggest weekend of winter quickly draws near. Just when the winter doldrums are at their peak, relief comes in the form of President’s day weekend Feb 12-14th. At this time, many locals are out and about, mingling with day trippers, weekenders, and winter renters. Of course we realize that mid February is still very much the season of winter….but there’s no denying that this holiday weekend always brings with it a buzz of activity and anticipation. It’s a fun experience to be sure!
Coinciding with the holiday weekend is, of course, Valentine’s Day. Cape May is one of the most attractive destinations for you and that special someone to enjoy this romantic day. And we encourage you to make a weekend of it! In fact, President’s Day weekend is also “Love Cape May Weekend” here in town. All throughout town you will find special deals on shopping, activities, and especially dining. The Washington Inn, The Mad Batter, and Elaine’s Dinner Theater are just a few of the tried and true favorites that will be open for business on Valentine’s Day. Whether the plan is a quiet dinner for two, a lively double date night, or even a family night…we assure you there is a venue for all tastes. Once you’ve selected a dining establishment, reservations are strongly encouraged if applicable.
